COVID-19 is impacting our members and communities across the state. On March 16, 2020, Governor Wolf strongly urged non-essential businesses statewide to shut down and residents avoid all nonessential travel over the entire state until March 31 in an attempt to slow the spread of the COVID-19. The following press release provides more details on what industries and services are defined as essential or non-essential. The PPA will continue to work with our government partners to express the importance of responsible operations for gas stations, distribution, transportation, and home repairs.
Our association will be taking every step possible to ensure our membership is receiving the information and guidance they need to navigate through this evolving situation. For additional information, please visit our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources on the PPA website. If you need anything or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
PPA provides invaluable services and represents the independent marketer’s interest in Pennsylvania locally and nationally by providing the following.
State and Federal Legislative Activities
The government, at the federal, state, and even the local level, plays a major role in every marketer’s business. The petroleum industry is among the most regulated of all industries. Clearly, there is a need for strong marketer representation among the multitude of legislative and regulatory bodies which govern our industry. PPA provides its members with a continuous flow of information on current regulations and legislation which affect their businesses. The Association also has a legislative affairs representative in Harrisburg. Find out more on our Government Affairs page.
All Active members of PPA are automatically members of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA). PMAA is a federation of state and regional petroleum marketing associations, representing America’s independent petroleum marketers. All told, PMAA and its member associations represent approximately 8,000 marketers across the country. Collectively, those marketers account for nearly 50 percent of the gasoline and 85 percent of the heating oil sold in the United States each year. Learn more about PMAA.
